| Frozen grilled eel (kabayaki) | 1/2 to 1 fillet |
| Warm steamed rice | 1 bowl |
| Kabayaki sauce (included) | to taste |
| Sansho pepper | a pinch (optional) |

Remove the frozen eel from the outer package. Thaw under running water while still in the inner bag for about until fully softened.

Bring water to a boil in a steamer. Remove the eel from the inner bag and steam on medium heat for about .

Brush the steamed eel lightly with sauce, then toast in a toaster oven or pan for 30 seconds to until the surface is lightly crisped.

Place rice in a bowl and drizzle with a small amount of sauce. Cut the eel into pieces, place on top, drizzle more sauce, and finish with sansho pepper.
Notes & Tips
Discounted eel that has been frozen at home works just as well. Steaming makes the eel soft and fluffy.
